Operating in hostile theaters, military vehicles are subject to frontal collisions, convoy accidents that impart a rearward collision to the first vehicle and a frontal collision to the second vehicle. These conditions are tested by compliance to the FMVSS standards, specifically the static 207/ 210 and dynamic 208. Most competitive seats are not compliant to these standards and attach belts to the vehicle structure. This poor design decouples the occupant from the seat, impairing occupant survivability and lowering injury tolerance thresholds.
